Debra Dress by FibreMood ๐Ÿงต

Hello, how are we in April already!

March has been and gone, what have I been up to ? Well apart from my awful dissertation which has been hanging around for what seems like forever I have been busy sewing.

In a previous life I was a professional seamstress, ( have I mentioned that already ? ) I used to have my own Bridal Studio and made bespoke wedding gowns, bridesmaid gowns, evening dresses that kind of thing. I have always loved sewing but unfortunately the financial pressure of the shop took my love of sewing away.  It became stressful and pressurised and after I shut up shop I sold so much of my lovely fabrics and my sewing paraphernalia. I never wanted to see my sewing machine again ! Strangely thought although I sold my overlocker, I hung on to my two sewing machines.  And I am so glad I did ! ๐Ÿ˜Š

My love for sewing is renewed ❤️

I have made myself a dress

Long time coming

Goodness its been ages since I came on here, I started to read my last post to see where I was up to in my life so I could kind of fill you guys in (thats if your even interested !) and there’s just too much life stuff and crafting stuff I got overwhelmed.

So I think I will just have a natter, apologies if its disjointed, my instagram is always up to date if you are really bored and want a catch up. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am nearing the end of my Nursing studies, lots of tears, tantrums, joy, heartache, bad placements, good placements, new friendships, fallouts and lots of stress, but here I am, limping towards the finish line. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป‍⚕️

I have a job secured in the Community, not sure if I am making the right decision tbh but when I had the interview I thought yes I want this job, and I was so excited to be accepted, I just tend to overthink things and the 7 months between interview and start date is a lot of time to think! I also haven’t had a true community placement yet either, I have worked as a healthcare out in the community for quite a long time so I have an idea but I don’t know the job role yet. Hey ho lets see where I go with that one shall we ?

Crafting wise, I’ve jumped from knitting to crochet, back to knitting and know I am on a sewing kick. As you may know I have made mohair bears for a long long time, they are my long time passion and yet funnily enough I don’t tend to make that many.  I have a flurry and make a few and then don’t make any for ages.  I do tend to do that with most of my crafts though so its probably just me. I don’t actually have many bears left here at home, I seem to have had an increase in sales of them, no idea why, and with my course and my scatty interests I just haven’t had time to keep them well stocked.  Here are a few of my latest, some are still waiting for homes and others have flown the nest, one actually went to Canada ๐Ÿ

Flight Shawl

Just a little update on the progress of my new shawl "Flight"

I have recently picked up my knitting again and loving it, move over crochet ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

So I decided to knit a Fairisle stranded two colour shawl.  Every month Yorkshire Yarn Fest hold an online event and I spend a lovely Saturday once a month watching the exhibitors.  My purse always takes a hit on those particular Saturdays though !

Well, maybe I ought to be ashamed at myself for my lack of posts during 2020.  But actually, I'm not, nobody probably reads this blog anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

So here I am again, another year older, second years Nursing Student now. Due to start my second placement for second year next week.  You will find me in A&E, well hopefully you won't because if you are visiting A&E then it's possible you have a problem! But anyway I'm really looking forward to it.

I have abandoned my crochet for a while.  I am just not feeling it. Cannot explain why, and I have enormous thanks to anyone who has purchased one of my patterns, please don't give up on me I will be back, I just needed a break.

I have picked up my sewing again, I dabbled in English Paper Piecing, I like it but it's very slow, I don't think I have the patience for it. I made some cloth dolls which I really enjoyed doing and they are in my Etsy shop.  But what I am really excited to share is my bears. ๐Ÿ˜Š I made my first bear in 1993, and I used to travel to bear fairs with my mom around the UK.  I have very fond memories of that time, we had lots of laughs. So here I am making bears again.

If you follow me on Instagram you will see my progress but here are a few photos.
