To fpdc you Yo (yarn over) and insert your hook into the front and around the post of the dc directly below the stitch you are making. Yo and draw up a loop, Yo and draw the hook through 2 loops, yo and draw though the remaining loops. This is exactly the same as a normal dc stitch the only difference is where you are inserting your hook. Watch your tension, pull the first Yo to match the length of your other stitches.

always start the first fpdc row with a dc, never with a fpdc.
Your next stitch is a dc, be careful where you place your hook see next 2 pictures
Carry on across the row alternating fpdc and dc.
Next row is a fpdc row, this time for each fpdc stitch you insert your hook into the dc that sits in between each fpdc the row underneath your last sc row, and your dc stitch will be into the sc row.
